As our health system becomes more advanced, pharmacists are playing an increasingly important role – managing drug therapy regimes, leading clinical trials, providing professional clinical services to communities, and becoming involved in the day-to-day management of complex diseases.

It's not surprising then that there's a demand for more advanced skills within the industry. Professional Honours in Clinical Pharmacy is designed with the professional pharmacist in mind to provide a flexible way to develop your clinical knowledge and better prepare yourself for the challenging roles of the future. Fully online, this course is flexible so that you can balance your work and personal commitments.

Start with this Professional Honours course then take advantage of our pathway options to complete the Masters of Clinical Pharmacy (M7F).

As a registered pharmacist, this course will build on your Bachelor degree, providing you with the clinical knowledge and skills to further your career in hospital or community pharmacy.

You will develop critical analysis, clinical decision-making, evidence-based management skills, and generally enhance your ability to contribute to the quality use of medicine.

Gain access to some of Australia's leading pharmacists. Our staff are passionate about what they teach, including researchers from our highly successful Unit for Medication Outcomes Research and Education (UMORE) in the Faculty of Health.

This course will equip you with the fundamental skills you need to enhance your career opportunities as a clinical or consultant pharmacist. In particular, you'll improve your knowledge of the quality use of medicines and therapeutic management.

By developing your communication skills, you'll also be able to build stronger relationships with patients and other health professionals.

Graduate early with the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy

You can choose to finish your degree after completing the six advanced pharmacotherapeutic units, graduating with a Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy.

Pathway to Master of Clinical Pharmacy

Successful completion of your Professional Honours in Clinical Pharmacy will provide you with entry into the Master of Clinical Pharmacy, and the ProfHons post-nominal.

If you choose to study the Masters of Clinical Pharmacy, you will have already completed all coursework units within the Masters. Furthermore, having completed research methodology units you will be adequately prepared for undertaking a practice-based research project providing you with the opportunity to conduct truly transformative research under the guidance of staff from UMORE.

Scholarships

Each year the University of Tasmania administers an estimated $7 million in scholarships to students from all walks of life, including those who have achieved high academic results; those from low socio-economic backgrounds; students with sporting ability; students undertaking overseas study; and students with a disability.

Applications for most awards commencing in Semester 1 open at the beginning of August and close strictly on 31 October of the year prior.
