Graduates will develop advanced, in-depth and contemporary knowledge of health and human service systems across a range of leadership and management dimensions including system planning, policy, strategy, governance, risk management, legal issues, ethics, health economics, financial management, quality & safety, leading & managing change, professional supervision, epidemiology, evaluating data/ evidence and translating evidence into practice.
The course will qualify individuals to apply this advanced knowledge towards system improvement, professional practice and research within the broad range of settings across health and human services and will provide a pathway for further learning.
It is able to be completed entirely via distance study methods but can be supported with optional mixed method delivery in some components of study at Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Rozelle campuses particularly through short course intensives.

Bachelor of Health & Human Services (Leadership) Professional Honours
The Bachelor of Health & Human Services (Leadership) Professional Honours qualifies individuals who will apply a body of advanced knowledge and skills related to leadership and management of health & human service provision, system improvement, research and practice in a range of contexts for highly skilled professional practice, and as a pathway for further learning.
Graduates will:
- Integrate and relate advanced, specialised knowledge of the Australian health & human service system and fundamentals of leadership and management to situate professional practice and system development in different aspects of effective health & human service delivery;
- Identify, manage, analyse, synthesise, evaluate and apply information relevant to improving health & human service delivery applying information relevant to improving health & human services across diverse and complex contexts ;
- Critique the quality and relevance of contemporary research related to health & human services management, leadership and delivery across a diverse and complex range of settings;
- Analyse, generate and communicate effective and innovative responses to complex problems and challenges in the context of leading & managing health & human service delivery and personal professional practice;
- Transmit knowledge skills and ideas to others, communicate effectively with a range of audiences and communities utilising different modalities; and
- Apply learning to demonstrate autonomy, judgement, adaptability, responsibility and accountability as a health & human service professional identifying pathways for further learning.
Career outcomes
Middle and senior leadership/management positions within the health and human service system including: clinical leadership positions, professional discipline leadership positions, operational management positions within government and non-government organisations, senior policy and administrative positions within government, non-government and private organisations as well as service planning & commissioning roles within government in addition to private practice leadership & management positions.

Admission requirements
Standard Entry: requires an undergraduate degree from an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution. This includes a process to assess the equivalency of qualifications received from overseas institutions as approved by the Course Coordinator.
Alternative Entry: Where this standard is not able to be met the following alternative criteria for equivalency can be considered by the Course Coordinator:
- Five years of relevant work experience demonstrating the relevance of the course and the prospective student's capacity to successfully undertake postgraduate study including reading, writing, analysis and research.
A record of high achievement with any uncompleted undergraduate study (Distinction Average)
Articulation from
After the successful completion of an approved bachelor degree students can proceed to admission into the Professional Honours (Leadership HHS) .
Articulation to
Upon completion there is an articulated pathway of learning through to the Master level of the Leadership ( Health & Human Services) and then through to the Professional Doctorate of Health for approved students

Fees & scholarships
Domestic students
Domestic students enrolled in a full fee paying place are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee but this fee is incorporated in the fees you pay for each unit you enrol in. Full fee paying domestic students do not have to make any additional SSAF payments.

International students
