You will learn contemporary evidence-based practice that is applied to both hospital and community pharmacy settings and you will study coursework units that cover pharmacology in cardiology, respiratory medicine, infectious diseases, oncology medicine, endocrinology, neurology, psychiatric disorders and gastroenterology.
Course objectives
The course will provide a formal training program for pharmacists to provide clinical services. Online delivery will enable access by pharmacists from overseas, as well as from rural and remote areas of Australia. The course will support rural pharmacists in becoming accredited to conduct medication reviews, and enhance their role as a member of the health care team. It will develop their ability to communicate effectively with other health professionals and patients. The course also aims to provide a pathway towards a Research Higher Degree.

The course should equip registered pharmacists with the fundamental knowledge and skills to enhance career opportunities as a clinical or consultant (medication review) pharmacist.

Entry requirements
For Domestic students
This course is not accepting applications.
Tertiary: An AQF Bachelor level degree in Pharmacy from UTAS or another university or tertiary institution that is deemed equivalent. PLUS Evidence of current AHPRA registration under the General Registration Type for the profession of Pharmacist, without conditions or notations is required
NOTE: Admissions to confirm registration on the AHPRA register and refer any applicants with conditions or notations to the School for review. Appropriate post-registration work experience of at least 1 year will also be normally considered as a requirement for acceptance into this program.
* PLUS Employment details or a personal statement in eApplication, or a CV or Resume which indicates appropriate post-registration work experience of at least 1 year.
* Length of time registered as a Pharmacist can be located on the AHPRA registration page. English Language: IELTS 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0)

Fees & scholarships
Domestic students
Cost shouldn’t get in the way of you studying.
If you’re a domestic student, you may be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place in this course. This means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.
You may also be able to defer payment of the student contribution amount by accessing a HECS-HELP loan from the Government. If eligible, you’ll only have to pay your tuition fees once you start earning above a specific amount.
