Introduction

This unit focuses on the application of paramedic practice in industry and community-based emergency health. The unit expands on knowledge and management of health emergencies explored in CAA201 Paramedic Practice 3 through industry-based application.
It integrates clinical reasoning and critical analysis with reflective practice to promote continuing professional development and contemporary evidence-based paramedic practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • Integrate and apply theoretical knowledge of the management of adult and paediatric health emergencies including cardiac, respiratory and obstetric conditions and pain management as well as related pharmacology, into industry-based practice.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the rationale and clinical science behind interventions used in the management of adult and paediatric health emergencies including cardiac, respiratory and obstetric conditions and pain management.
  • Reflect on, analyse and critique clinical cases to demonstrate an informed, evidence-based approach to clinical reasoning and practice.
  • Communicate knowledge and clinical experience with peers, engaging in collaborative learning to facilitate professional development.
  • Use reflection of practice methods to adapt to a changing paramedic discipline and to foster professional development through life-long learning.
