Paramedicine 2 CAA220

Introduction

This unit builds upon the material learned in CAA110 and will advance the development of knowledge of the theory underpinning the practice of paramedicine, enabling you to identify, assess and manage medical and trauma conditions encountered in the out of hospital setting. The epidemiological aspects as well as contemporary and controversial management issues will be addressed. This unit will reaffirm the importance of employing a systematic approach to all patient care and will prepare you for practice as a beginning practitioner.

  • Describe the role of clinical assessment and clinical judgement, including time criticality, as related to systematic and structured patient assessment and management principles.
  • Analyse and apply the evidence and research base that guides the paramedic response regarding medical and trauma assessment and intervention
  • Articulate the paramedic role of providing health care to all patients (including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) from a non-emergency perspective.
