Introduction

This unit expands on paramedic practice and introduces the student to intensive health and physical assessment of the acutely ill patient as well as the patient suffering from chronic disease. This unit reflects the change in paramedic practice in the changing health service environment and challenges the student to expand on their practice and assessment of patients throughout the lifespan, taking into account social, cultural and socio-economic factors.

Weekly online lectures and weekly discussion tasks.

Assessment

Written Examination (3 hours) 50%, Quizzes (25%), Clinical Practice Reflection (25%).

Students must complete all unit components to achieve an overall unit pass. Students must pass the written examination to achieve an overall pass.
