Introduction
In this unit, CAD003 General Studies in Dementia Care, you will cover three key areas: writing for success in tertiary study, study skills and critical thinking skills. This unit will develop your self-motivation, time management, planning, organisation and literacy skills. Learning modules to specifically teach these skills will be available. In this unit you will also begin to develop learning skills that will be useful throughout your university career. These include listening and reading effectively, taking notes, using visual learning tools, learning how to structure and write essays and reports and developing critical thinking skills. In researching for your assignments, you will begin to build your critical thinking skills. You will begin to examine claims about facts and expressions of opinion in order to assess their credibility and accuracy and to identify any bias.
