Principles of Palliative Care CAD203

This unit is fully online.

Introduction

This unit provides an overview of contemporary palliative care principles. You will learn about the underpinnings of palliative care practices, with a particular focus on such practices for people with dementia and the people close to them. A core consideration of dementia is it progressive, life-limiting nature. Dementia is an incurable, terminal, neurodegenerative condition, with multiple symptoms arising across its trajectory. A palliative approach (that promotes quality of life for those living with terminal conditions) for the care of those living with dementia is therefore appropriate.
