Health and Social Care in Dementia 2 CAD601

Introduction

This unit engages students with the primary research literature dealing with factors influencing the health and wellbeing of people with dementia, and their carers. Community strategies and social programmes focused on supporting healthy autonomous life for people with dementia, are examined in the context of personal experience and social outcomes, building a knowledge base aimed at evaluation of evidence from the primary research literature. Students are assessed both online for the content modules, and in the form of a written MyContext assignment requiring the student to directly relate the course material to their individual professional and/or personal context.

  • To critically review and evaluate approaches to improving interpersonal, social and environmental factors, that affect people living with dementia and their supporters across different societies and cultures.
