The unit is organised around weekly cases consisting of lectures/presentations, facilitated small group learning sessions, practicals and tutorials. This unit is web-dependent including on-line discussion and assessment. Students will attend clinical attachmentsand community organisations over the course of the semester. Students must be available full time Monday - Friday with some compulsory out of hours activities scheduled throughout the semester.

Examinations:

1. Mid semester written exam : Multiple choice questions, extended matching questions, and short answer questions  relating to all material covered up-to and including week 6 or 7 of CAM201 (depending on the position of Easter Break). Closed book - no notes, books or other reference material permitted.
2. Written Paper 1: This assessment task will test knowledge and understanding of concepts covered in CAM201 relating to Science and Scholarship, Clinical Practice (including CBL and clinical skills), Health and Society, and Professionalism and Leadership. It will comprise a selection of multiple-choice, extended matching items and short answer questions.
   Closed book - no notes, books or other reference material permitted
3. Written Paper 2 : This assessment task will test knowledge and understanding of concepts covered in CAM201 relating to Science and Scholarship, Clinical Practice (including CBL and clinical skills), Health and Society, and Professionalism and Leadership. This is a written exam, which may include case-based and integrated questions. Closed book - no notes, books or other reference material permitted
4. Applied Examination: The examination will include identification, explanation and application of knowledge of material learnt over the semester. Questions may include identification and explanation of specimens, slides, micrographs, models, medical images (photos, radiographs, CT, MRI, etc.), charts, laboratory findings, graphs and any other material related to all learning sessions. Closed book - no notes, books or other reference material permitted.

2. Assignment and presentation.

It is a requirement to submit all assignments as per the CAM201 Unit Outline.

Other Unit Requirements:

Clinical examination and history skills are assessed during a series of clinical competency sessions over the year. Students must demonstrate competency in cardiovascular and respiratory examination and one history competency session in semester one. A pass mark is required in all clinical competencies performed in year 2 (CAM201 and CAM202).

The requirements for the Kids and Families Program, Personal and Professional Development Portfolio (PPD), pharmacology log book interviews, and case-based presentations are listed in the unit outline. All 'Other Unit Requirements' must be completed to a minimum satisfactory standard.

At the completion of CAM201 an IC (Interim Completion) grade is awarded because of the year long nature of some assessments. The mark and grade for Year 2 (CAM201 and CAM202 combined), derived from a weighted total of all examinations, essays and assignments, will be released at the end of semester two. In order to pass CAM201/202, a student must pass the weighted total of all examinations (mid semester and end of semester) across the year, pass the weighted total of essays and assignments across the year, and complete all other unit requirements satisfactorily.
