Hobart
Introduction
This unit follows on directly from CHP311 Neuroscience A. The unit provides an understanding of contemporary neuroscience research topics in neural development, biology of neuronal disorders and cellular and molecular neurobiology. The unit emphasises experimental techniques and the evidence on which current understanding of the nervous system is based. It aims to develop the students' understanding of neuroscience research by offering exposure to laboratory research with the Neuroscience research groups.
Students will learn good practice in recording experimental work, data analysis and how to critically review the neuroscience literature. Students will demonstrate their neuroscience knowledge in an oral presentation and in a written paper. Teaching includes lectures, tutorials and journal club sessions. All sessions will be focused on current neuroscience techniques and how these are used to address significant neuroscience research questions and how they are applied in published research papers.
