The teaching pattern in this unit will vary depending on the semester in which it is undertaken
The unit comprises of three modules each of which focuses on a specific area of health and incorporates contextual physiology, pathophysiology and nursing practice across primary, secondary and tertiary care. Current national health priorities in the areas of musculo-skeletal, reproductive health and cancer/oncology are explored. A case study approach incorporates learning related to legal and ethical issues, cultural competence and building therapeutic relationships. This unit engages students in clinical reasoning to promote health outcomes. Students will have the opportunity to develop their Professional Portfolio in this unit.
