Developing Professional Nursing Practice CNA340

Professional Experience Placement (PEP): Students will be allocated PEP within individual health care agencies. Students must be available 5 days a week (mornings, evenings, weekends, nightshifts, as per roster), may be expected to relocate and are expected to travel to where PEP is available. To be eligible to undertake PEP, all students must meet the requirements of the Health Science Safety in Practice kit by completing and submitting all Safety in Practice Agreement compliance documentation to the School. Students who cannot or do not comply with these requirements will not be allocated PEP and therefore will not be able to complete this unit. PEP dates MAY differ from University of Tasmania calendar semester dates.

This unit buildings on the learning from Nursing Practice 3 and incorporates 240 hours of Professional Experience Placement. The unit focuses on assisting the student to transition to professional practice as a Registered Nurse through assessment of their progress towards competence against the National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse. Resources emphasising thinking and acting like a Registered Nurse will assist the student to begin consolidating skills around reflection in action. Students will further develop their Professional Portfolio in this unit.
