This unit reinforces the research content covered in previous semesters and has an explicit emphasis on the implementation of research in practice. Qualitative, quantitative and mixed method research, research ethics and accessing and interpreting high level evidence are examined in greater detail. The ways in which research influences improvements in health care, advances practice change and enhances health outcomes will be discussed through the presentation of selected research studies. Research pathways in nursing are addressed. Students will have the opportunity to engage with active researchers and develop an appreciation of the importance of the research process for nursing practice.
