Strengths Based Nursing & Healthcare CNA343
Launceston
This unit is being phased out, no new enrolments are being taken.
Introduction
Strengths-based nursing and healthcare is an approach that guides healthcare delivery for persons and families and is at the forefront of international healthcare reforms and nursing developments. This approach aims to optimise functioning and wellbeing, promote health and create conditions for healing across the life span. This approach works with the person’s and the family’s strengths and resources in collaboration with the healthcare team. This unit will explore four major principles of strengths-based nursing and healthcare:
1. Person/family centred care;
2. Empowerment;
3. Health promotion and healing; and,
4. Collaborative partnership.
In this unit, a case study approach is used to support the development and application of strengths-based nursing knowledge and skills in various contexts of nursing and healthcare. Students will have the opportunity to develop their Professional Portfolio of Evidence in this unit.
