Becoming a Registered Nurse: Practice Consolidation CNA344

Hobart, Launceston, Rozelle - Sydney, Darlinghurst - Sydney

Professional Experience Placement (PEP): Students will be allocated PEP within individual health care agencies. Students must be available 5 days a week (mornings, evenings, weekends, nightshifts, as per roster), may be expected to relocate and are expected to travel to where PEP is available. To be eligible to undertake PEP, all students must meet the requirements of the Health Science Safety in Practice kit by completing and submitting all Safety in Practice Agreement compliance documentation to the School. Students who cannot or do not comply with these requirements will not be allocated PEP and therefore will not be able to complete this unit. PEP dates MAY differ from University of Tasmania calendar semester dates.

This Professional Experience Placement unit incorporates 240 hours of experience in a clinical practice environment. The unit focuses on becoming a Registered Nurse and is the Capstone practice unit in which the final summative assessment of competence against the National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse is made. Supporting resources are designed to facilitate and strengthen thinking around the role of a Registered Nurse and include clinical reasoning, clinical communication, conflict management, risk and accountability, person/family/community-centred care and evidence-based practice.  Students will finalise their Professional Portfolio in this unit.
