Introduction
This unit will examine altered cell biology, epidemiology and the technologies used to detect and treat cancer. Non-evidence based treatments for cancer are also discussed. Interactive case studies across a broad range of specialisations are used to demonstrate understanding of unit content.

Learning Outcomes
- Examine applied biological, genetic, pathophysiology and epidemiological theories underpinning cancer risk, prevention, screening, diagnostic classification and staging.
- Apply advanced clinical assessment and problem-solving skills related to the holistic care of the oncology patient, including evidence-based approaches to cancer nursing care.
- Describe a variety of treatment modalities including chemotherapy, biotherapy, pharmacogenomics, radiation and surgical strategies used to treat, manage and/or palliate the oncology & haematology patient.
- Reflect on current practice, identifying areas for development or innovation.
