Introduction

This unit is designed to be experiential and practice focused. It will focus on the complex health care needs of patients requiring specialised anaesthetic and recovery room nursing care. The practice skills required to address complex nursing situations in the anaesthetic and recovery room environment will be covered in this unit. Students will examine potential complications and/or emergencies requiring nursing intervention, coordination and management during the patient's anaesthetic and recovery phase of their operative procedure.
