Introduction
Among the populations nurses engage with will be an increasingly significant proportion of people who may develop diabetes, live with diabetes or present with an acute or chronic complication of diabetes. This unit examines the aetiology, pathogenesis and determinants of health that contribute to the increasing incidence of diabetes mellitus. The outcome of this unit is for nurses to demonstrate the application of the concepts discussed in this unit to their clinical area.
