Note:

CNA727– Immunisation Education for Registered Nursing is offered in Tasmania only and to undertake this unit you need to:

  • be a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • have a minimum of 12 months clinical experience.
  • have professional access to a preceptor and an immunisation clinical practice environment which administers vaccines to infants and adults
  • provide documented evidence of current skills in adult, paediatric and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Guidelines

Introduction

This unit aims to provide registered nurses with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to apply for initial approval as an authorised nurse immuniser in Tasmania. The unit content has been developed in accordance with the National Immunisation Education Framework for Health Professionals and the current electronic version of the Australian Immunisation Handbook. The unit content consists of modules which equip students to critically analyse the application of immunisation theory to clinical practice, understand and apply legal and contextual requirements related to the immunisation process, demonstrate competence in the delivery of age appropriate vaccinations, and promote evidence based immunisation information in the community.
