Introduction
The purpose of this unit is to provide you with an introduction to the issue of violence in society and how it can relate to you in your healthcare agency. Violence will be examined within international, national and local contexts, exploring the social and cultural components which are inextricably linked to the development of violent behaviour. This unit will help you to clarify your own response to violence and to develop your understanding of violence prevention in healthcare. The unit is based on guided learning modules and essential and recommended readings and web-based resources.
