Introduction
This Unit is co-requisite with Unit CNA740. In this Unit students will employ a critical reflective and problem-based learning approach to support the development of the knowledge, skill and attitudinal competencies required for effective practice as beginning level specialist practitioners in mental health nursing. Students will also keep a Clinical Journal as a portfolio of evidence of achieving the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses Inc (ACMHN) Standards of Practice, 2010.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate developed knowledge, skill and attitudinal competency against the nine ACMHN Standards of Practice, 2010. these standards of practice are fully outlined in your clinical portfolio.
- Demonstrate the ability to critically reflect on your own mental health nursing practice in the interests of your own emancipation, enlightenment and empowerment as a mental health nurse practitioner.
- Apply your knowledge of the nursing process, evidenced-based practice and problem-solving skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for a hypothetical client case scenario.
