Contemporary Perioperative Nursing Practice CNA755
Students are expected to have employment or a student placement in an operating room environment. This unit uses group work and late enrolment may affect your ability to participate actively.
Introduction
This unit builds on the knowledge and skills developed in CNA754 and is guided by clinical practice. Meanings arising from the content addressed in CNA757 are explored within an experiential mode of learning. Advanced problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills are used to enhance competency development.

Learning Outcomes
- Apply concepts of patient management within complex surgical specialties during the perioperative continuum
- Undertake experiential learning to inform self-awareness of competencies and motivate the delivery of quality and safe patient care and interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Use methods of enquiry, evaluative skills and attitudes required for reflection, critical thinking, collaborative dialogue, problem solving and decision making.
- Pursue and apply knowledge using initiative and independence in order to adapt and advance practice in response to changing demands and patterns within the perioperative environment.
