Introduction
This unit is designed to introduce students to pharmacology, which is the field of science concerned with the effect of drugs on living organisms. The knowledge of pharmacology is fundamental to the safe and effective use of medicines by health professionals. This unit provides students with an understanding of important pharmacological concepts in the treatment of specific diseases. Emphasis is given to the clinical application of pharmacology in the management of disease through a series of case-based workshops. CSA230 Pharmacology and CSA231 Pharmacology are taught as two distinct interconnected units.
