Introduction
This unit focuses on developing students’ health literacy. Health literacy is the capacity to understand, evaluate and apply information to make decisions about health and health care. Students will explore how health information is communicated and how to distinguish evidence-based information from other publicly available sources of health material. The different elements in making health information accessible to different audiences will be introduced, as well as the goals of successful health communication.
