Bioscience 1 CXA204

Hobart, Rozelle - Sydney

Introduction

This unit builds on the basic knowledge from CXA107 Fundamentals of Bioscience to develop an understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of the nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal and immune systems. Principles of pathophysiology and pharmacology are introduced and, through a systems based approach, the actions of commonly used medicines are explored. Microbiology, including infections, immunisation and the use of antimicrobials are discussed in relation to health care environments and clinical practice.
