This unit extends the student's understanding of the concepts of genetics and molecular biology obtained in CXA315 Cell and Molecular Biochemistry. The unit focuses on medical molecular genetics, providing detailed study of genetic mutations and inheritance patterns of genetic diseases. This unit has 10 weeks of online content consisting of pre-recorded lectures and notes requiring approximately 10 x 5hrs learning and engagement, supported by 10 x 1hr tutorials. There is a 1 x 2hr seminar in week 12 that precedes 3 x 3hr practical sessions delivered in week 13.
