Integrated Physiotherapy 2 CXA711
Introduction
This unit further extends and integrates knowledge and skills related to professional practice issues and communication in physiotherapy. The unit retains the focus on applying the biopsychosocial model of practice, person and family-centred practice, evidence-based practice, reflective practice, critical thinking and interprofessional collaboration. Students are required to synthesise new knowledge and skills related to responding to clients with acute and chronic cardiorespiratory conditions and integrate them in the application of the clinical reasoning cycle, culturally safe practice for diverse populations, determining the quality of information sources and professional interaction and communication.

Learning Outcomes
- Describe the aetiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis and clinical presentation of common cardiorespiratory disorders.
- Conduct a client assessment, including examination of the cardiorespiratory system, client history, physical examination, and demonstrate the use of basic measurement and testing procedures used to assess cardiorespiratory dysfunction.
- Propose, justify and demonstrate safe and effective physiotherapy interventions, using a clinical reasoning and evidence, to manage individuals with cardiorespiratory problems.
- Explain different classes of medications commonly used for cardio-respiratory conditions and how different medications affect the body.
- Demonstrate professional attributes including effective therapeutic communication and active engagement through inquiry and interprofessional collaboration.
