Introduction
This unit is designed to introduce students to human cells and tissues and the anatomy and physiology of the integumentary, defence, musculoskeletal and neuroendocrine systems in the human body. The unit will include: (a) the basic facts and concepts relating to the human body`s structural and functional organisation at different levels (cells, tissues, organs, systems), and the constituent regions, parts and organs of all the several body systems and their functional interactions; (b) the range of normal variation in human anatomy and physiology, and the relationships between structure and function; and (c) anatomical and physiological terminology which enables students to discuss, orally or in writing, facts, concepts, problems and biomedical issues relating to the structural and functional organisation of the body.
