Concepts of Nursing 3: Transition to Practice NUR350

Introduction

Concepts of Nursing 3 is designed to prepare you with the essential skills to transition from student to Registered Nurse. You will critically engage with resources to assist you to apply for graduate positions in differing health care organisations. You will understand the importance of adopting positive, collaborative working relationships and the pillars of healthcare leadership and effecting change as a future leader will be explored. The concepts of self- care, work-life balance and resilience will be examined to enable you to incorporate these within your practice and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

You will review patient safety and quality systems including policies and procedures, measurement and quality improvement, risk management, incident management systems, health care records and conflict resolution. Federal and private funding schemes will be analysed as a means to develop foundational understandings of the relationship between economy and health

Teaching Pattern	Details of teaching arrangements The unit is fully online and provides you with opportunities for synchronous and asynchronous interactions – peer to peer, student to teacher and teacher to student. You are expected to devote around 10 hours per week to the study materials, assessment tasks and self‐directed learning.You can interact with the online content at any time, which will be in a modularised format. Online tutorials/webinars will provide further opportunity to engage with instructors and peers and consolidate your knowledge of the online presentations and readings. The format and content of these sessions will be advertised through MyLO announcements. Whilst the unit calendar provides a weekly guide, it is expected that you set your own goals to meet the unit learning outcomes. In addition to MyLO, you will be required to use an electronic platform to support your learning journey, through developing your professional portfolio to display your work. On graduation, you will continue to have access to your professional portfolio.
