Course rules for H4B Bachelor of Nursing with Clinical Honours (Transition to Practice)

Entry  

1 To qualify for admission, a candidate for the Bachelor of Nursing with Clinical Honours (Transition to Practice) must:

[i] Be registered to practise as a nurse in Australia;

[ii] Have no restrictions on practising/ registration certificate;

[iii] Be employed as a first year registered nurse at no less than 50% full time equivalent;

[iv] Have completed a Bachelor of Nursing or its equivalent.

2 A candidate shall complete the degree requirements, as hereinafter prescribed, normally in not less than one year of full time study. The course is offered part-time.

Course structure

3 To qualify for the degree, a candidate shall pass eight 12.5% units (or equivalent) specified in the Schedule accompanying these specifications.

4 [i] Units may be counted towards the degree only if they have been taken in accordance with prerequisites and as summarised in the Schedule.

[ii] A candidate normally may not enrol in any year in units totalling more than 100% weighting.

[iii] Where two or more units of the same name or content are offered within the University, only one may be counted towards the degree.

[iv] In every case the candidate's choice of units and the order in which they are taken shall be subject to approval in accordance with the requirements  of paragraph 3.

5 A candidate entering clinical practice in a clinical agency shall observe the rules, regulations, policies, protocols, procedures and by-laws of that agency.

Credit for previous studies  

6 Passes in subjects or units in other courses (completed or otherwise) in this University or another approved tertiary institution (or other professional examining body) may be credited towards the degree and the Faculty may specify what more a candidate so credited shall be required qualify for the degree.

Miscellaneous

7 The Faculty may from time to time make amendments to the Schedule to these specifications.

8 These specifications shall take effect on 1 January 2012 and shall apply to all candidates for the degree, including those enrolling for the first year and those enrolled subsequently.

9 The approved abbreviation for the degree of Bachelor of Nursing with Clinical Honours (Transition to Practice)  shall be BNClinHons (Transition to Practice )
