Course rules for E4R Bachelor of Education with Professional Honours (Specialisation)
Candidates for the Bachelor of Education with Professional Honours (Specialisation) shall be qualified for entry if they have obtained one of the following:
a bachelor degree in Education;
a bachelor degree in another faculty/college/institution, together with a Diploma of Education, Bachelor of Teaching, or Master of Teaching/Master of Teaching (Specialisation)
In special cases the School may accept a candidate for the course who does not satisfy the normal entry requirements but has qualifications and relevant professional experience, which it deems to be a suitable preparation for admission to the course. In such cases, the Faculty may require the candidate to undergo such preliminary studies as it considers appropriate.
Candidates for the course shall complete the requirements, as hereinafter prescribed, in not less than one year of full-time study (or its equivalent) and not more than three years from the time of first enrolment.
4 To qualify for the award, a candidate shall pass six 12.5% units and one 25% as specified in the Schedule accompanying these specifications.
5 [i] Units may be counted towards the award only if they have been taken in accordance with prerequisites and as summarised in the Schedule.
[ii] A candidate normally may not enrol in any semester in units totalling more than 50% weighting
[iii] Where two or more units of the same name or content are offered within the University, only one may be counted towards the award.
[iv] In every case the candidate's choice of units and the order in which they are taken shall be subject to approval in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 3.
Credit for previous studies
6 Passes in subjects or units in other courses (completed or otherwise) in this University or another approved tertiary institution (or other approved professional examining body) may be credited towards the award, provided that the Faculty may specify what more a candidate so credited shall be required to do to qualify for the award.
7 The Faculty may from time to time make amendments to the Schedule to these specifications.
8 These specifications shall take effect on 1 January 2019 and shall apply to all candidates for the award, including those enrolling for the first time in that year and those enrolled subsequently.
10 The approved abbreviation for the award of Bachelor of Education with Professional Honours (Specialisation) shall be B.EdProfHons(Specialisation).
