This one-year course is offered either on a full-time or part-time basis by the College of Sciences and Engineering through Architecture & Design. It is undertaken on campus in Inveresk, Launceston.

The course is designed to provide research training and to develop more specialised knowledge in selected areas of design which are especially relevant to today's environmental concerns and which are already incorporated in the programs of the School.

Career outcomes

The honours course is aimed specifically at students who wish to continue further studies in a related research field. Graduates of the course are eligible to enter a higher degree in most related fields. The School provides a Master of Design by research degree course and PhD program.

Entry requirements

Before beginning their course of study for the degree of BEnvDes(Hons) students shall have:

  1. Qualified for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Design (BEnvDes) in this University or qualified for admission to a degree in another design course in a tertiary institution approved by the College of Sciences and Engineering; and
  2. Achieved an Average Weighted Mark of at least 60% in the units of the final year of the BEnvDes course or an equivalent design course in another tertiary institution approved by the College.

Fees & scholarships

Domestic students

Domestic students enrolled in a full fee paying place are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee but this fee is incorporated in the fees you pay for each unit you enrol in. Full fee paying domestic students do not have to make any additional SSAF payments.

International students

2021 Total Course Fee (international students): $29,950 AUD*.

Course cost based on a rate of $29,950 AUD per standard, full-time year of study (100 credit points).

* Please note that this is an indicative fee only.

International students

International students are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee but this fee is incorporated in the annual rate. International students do not have to make any additional SSAF payments.
