Advanced Dynamics and Vibrations ENG312

Introduction

This unit explores the dynamics of rigid bodies in three dimensions and also the vibration of systems. The dynamics part of the unit examines the kinematics and kinetics of rigid bodies in three dimensions, dynamic balancing of rotating equipment and gyroscopic motion. The vibrations part of the unit is directed at developing your understanding of the analysis and design of dynamic mechanical systems. This includes modal analysis of multi degree of freedom systems, modal matrix, characterisation of modes by generalised mass, stiffness and damping, modes of vibration of distributed systems, including beams and plates.
