Introduction

In recent years, BIM has become the top priority for the construction industry as it is becoming a mandatory requirement for more and more projects. This unit is aimed at teaching the basic principles of BIM and the introduction of one of the most popular BIM tools – REVIT. Sessions will be run mainly in the PC lab. Students will learn about three core BIM areas: introduction to BIM and Revit, application of BIM in structural design and architecture and application of BIM in building services design.

Given the importance of BIM in the construction industry, this unit is of extreme value not only to civil engineering students and architecture students, but also all other engineering students who may be involved in building services (mechanical and electrical engineering students).

Note

Please check that your computer meets the minimum System Requirements if you are attending via Distance/Off-Campus.

Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.

Special approval is required for enrolment into TNE Program units.

TNE Program units special approval requirements.

* The Final WW Date is the final date from which you can withdraw from the unit without academic penalty, however you will still incur a financial liability (see withdrawal dates explained for more information).
