Special Topics in Ocean Engineering JEE492

Introduction

This unit covers contemporary or advanced topics, or recent advances in different fields of ocean engineering. It provides students with a broad knowledge of the state-of-the- arts in ocean engineering.
Topics may vary between unit offerings and range from
• Subsea systems for oil and gas production, including subsea structures, subsea pipelines and marine risers, subsea control system.
• Methods for underwater survey, including principles of underwater acoustics, side scan sonar, multi-beam sonar.
• Remotely operated vehicles (ROV) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and their applications in subsea survey and construction.
• Offshore renewable energy systems.
