Launceston

Introduction

Throughout the four years of study, students must complete a mandatory minimum of 12 weeks work experience (exposure to professional practice).  They will have sufficient academic grounding and experience to contribute in a positive manner to the engineering design and problem solving processes within the work environment.   Students will develop an ability to deal, under supervision, with complex work-related concepts and problems.  They should have a greater knowledge and comprehension of their engineering discipline and will be able to engage in various facets of engineering, and can observe and appreciate the attitudes, responsibilities, and ethics expected of engineers.  They will continue to use and understand the importance of acquired analytical skills in engineering analysis as well as the application of specifications and codes. Students must submit their mandatory Work Experience Log Book. The main purpose of this Log Book is to enable students to reflect on their broad experiences (including 12-week Work Experience, academic program and life experiences) and demonstrate and assess their attainment of Engineer’s Australia’s stage 1 competencies.

Important note: Students are responsible for identifying and negotiating their own work experience arrangements.
