Introduction

This unit gives students an understanding of the functional purpose of the machinery systems used on board a variety of ships. This knowledge can then be applied to obtaining effective engineering design solutions for these systems, so that they can meet their functional purposes within national and international statutory and regulatory frameworks.

    • BE Degree or equivalent; or a demonstrated ability in an engineering discipline and applied mathematics.  For example:  successful completion of qualifications for a Chief Engineering or Shipmaster.
