Introduction
On completion of this unit, the student will have the skills, knowledge and attributes to undertake shipboard navigational, watchkeeping and marine communication tasks as a trainee deck officer under the supervision of a Deck Officer. Particular emphasis is placed on the watchkeeping standards of the STCW Convention. This unit is delivered via classroom theory, tutorials, web-based learning and practical work in a simulated shipboard environment.
