Navigational Watchkeeping JND281

Introduction

The unit integrates Watchkeeping theory and practical application and problem-solving exercises involving the use of the Integrated Marine Simulator. Students will also develop skills and knowledge to carry out watchkeeping procedures, respond to potential collision and emergency situations, IALA Buoyage System, maintain an accurate record in the vessels log, and Bridge Resource Management. Students will also have knowledge of basic manoeuvring and ship handling principles.
This unit builds on the knowledge gained in year 1 and meets the learning outcomes set out in Table A -II/1 of STCW 2010 and detailed in the Maritime Training Package MAR 50315.
