This unit provides students with the knowledge and skills to understanding the operation, construction, and characteristics of ship's electrical and electronic systems, including the control systems, to enable safe and efficient operation of a commercial vessel and its machinery at an operational level. This includes design specifications, trouble shooting, maintenance and repair, and communication with external stakeholders.
This unit meet the requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency set out by the Maritime Training Package TDM50207, the STCW 2010 (Manila Amendments) and Table A-III/1 of the STCW code, and detailed in the Maritime Training Package MAR50115.

Students attending classes and students electing to study on flexible mode will follow the same class time table. Total lecturing hours have not changed from the existing. Both categories of students will have access to the same resources through MyLO.
Lectures Duration/ Frequency/Time tabling:

Practicals Duration/ Frequency/Time tabling:
5 hrs per week for 5 weeks. Total Hrs 25.
Mandatory practicals. Recommended for end of semester consolidated teaching period.
