This unit provides students with the knowledge and skills to plan manage and carry out engineering operations, maintenance, and repairs on main propulsion steam turbines, main boilers, and related ancillary systems on commercial vessels. This includes the design, operational principles, construction, safety, statutory requirements, trouble shooting, testing and measurements, repairs and maintenance to enable safe and efficient operation of large steam propulsion systems as a management level engineer. It also includes liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
