This unit is a 2 day short course and may be delivered multiple times in each study period. In order to complete 6.25% load it should be combined with enrolment or credit in the following unit: JVD186 Tanker Familiarisation (Liquefied Gas) 3.00%

Introduction

In the shipping industry in particular, the tanker sector is currently focusing more on the Safe operation of tankers. This unit has been designed to provide the learner with the required basic knowledge and skills to contribute for the safe operation of a tankers by understanding the hazards and taking precautions to prevent them. Also this unit provides the basic knowledge to respond to various emergencies one may face on board ship including firefighting. This unit meet the requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency set out by the current Maritime Training Package, STCW 2010 (Manila Amendments), and Regulation V/1, Table A-V/1-2-1 of the STCW code.
