Design Research - Communication KDA409
Launceston
Introduction
Design Research: Methods and Design Research: Communication are a suite of two units where you will explore the relationship between research and contemporary design practice and develop key skills in undertaking and communicating design research. The units provide the foundation for Advanced Design Research projects in the Master of Architecture.
In this unit, Design Research: Communication, we focus on the communication of research findings for various academic, professional and general audiences. You will be introduced to a variety of forms of communication for design research. Through detailed precedent studies, you will explore and critically evaluate diverse forms of communication and media and their strategies for engaging different audiences with design research. You will also develop advanced knowledge of techniques in academic and professional writing, including distilling ideas, structuring argument, and using appropriate conventions through workshop and critical analysis of academic texts. You will then apply this knowledge in the development of communication strategies and outputs for professional, scholarly and other targeted audiences related to a specialised topic of design research.
