Sustainability is one of the most complex and important challenges facing humanity today. In this final capstone unit, students will use their learnings from throughout the major and apply them to complex sustainability problems to identify relevant stakeholders and negotiate potential interventions. Students will learn about tools of change, reflect on the value systems held by themselves and others, and work together to identify and design practical interventions to sustainability challenges. The teachings will draw on Tasmanian case studies developed through the Sustainability Integration Program for Students (SIPS) and will integrate Indigenous perspectives and case studies. The team-based problem solving, life-wide learning and active citizenry practiced in this unit will help the students develop into sustainability agents of change and strengthen their ability to contribute to practical interventions in diverse settings. Students will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on local sustainability interventions and to consider how these projects work to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
