Ecosystem Conservation KGA516

There is an optional two days of fieldwork in the University Reserve.

Want to learn more about ecology and conservation? Are you interested in the science behind the conservation stories in your daily news? This unit offers you a pathway to understanding the science of ecology and how physical systems interact with social systems for conservation outcomes. Using an area that you care about, you will discuss and write about the issues surrounding conservation management of an area of your choice anywhere in the world. In the first half of semester, you will research your area, and the second half will look at the social and management context.  By the end of semester, you will  have sufficient understanding to critically assess arguments related to conservation biology, environmental management, and be well prepared to apply for work in nature conservation in Australia and overseas.
