Introduction

This on-line unit provides a foundation for advanced studies in planning and management for climate change. Development of professional competencies in this field is a core objective. The unit consists of modules that introduce students to basic climate adaptation knowledge including climate science, impacts and scenarios; systems thinking; mitigation; adaptation concepts and strategies; mitigation/adaptation relationships; and adaptation and sustainable development and governance dimensions of climate change. Case studies explore aspects of climate change in relation to coastal, urban and natural resources systems. Students are provided with opportunities to gain experience with climate adaptation planning and management skills in problem-based learning exercises.
