Introduction

This unit provides postgraduate students with the skills and knowledge to undertake independent and team research in environmental management, planning, protected area governance, spatial sciences and beyond. This practical skills development focuses on undertaking research to problem-solve a topical real-world issue. Upon completing this unit, you will gain an understanding of how to: define a research problem, use scholarly databases, apply a tailored method to generate data, systematically analyse and present this data, interpreting and communicating results, and writing a report that makes appropriate recommendations based on research conclusions. This unit is compulsory for those with less than 65% average of coursework units in Master of Environmental Management [S7D], Master of Planning [K7P], Master of Applied Science, Environmental Management and Spatial Sciences [K7J4], and Master of Protected Area Governance and Management (K7E). This unit is available to students with 65% or above as an alternative to KGA742/3 Research Thesis A/B.
