This is one of two 25% thesis units: KGA742 and KGA743. Students will be enrolled by the Course Coordinator in both of these units; in one semester for those undertaking the research full time, or in two consecutive semesters for those undertaking the research part time. Students enrolling will commence 3 weeks prior to the normal commencement of Semester 1 or Semester 2. The submission date for the thesis will be the last day of the semester in which the candidate is enrolled in KGA743.
Introduction
The research project comprises one third (50% of 150%) of the requirements for the Master of Environmental Management (S7D) or Master of Environmental Planning (S7U) degrees and one quarter (50% of 200%) of the requirements for the Master of Planning (K7P) or Master of Protected Area Governance and Management (K7E).
The project is carried out under the guidance of a supervisor allocated by the Course Coordinator with agreement of the candidate. The results of the research are reported in a minor thesis that is assessed by two examiners, one of whom is normally from outside of the University. The research must address a topic of significance for environmental management (S7D candidates), planning (S7U and K7P candidates) or protected areas (K7E candidates).
