Land Development Design KGG519

Introduction

Land development projects are a key component of the work program for many surveying firms. The surveyors’ role in these projects requires them to have knowledge of subdivision infrastructure to allow them to interact with engineers, draftspeople and planners throughout the design and construction process. In this unit students will be introduced to subdivision design methodologies for roads, drainage, water reticulation and sewerage systems according to relevant Australian Standards, planning legislation and codes of practice. The practical component of the unit will use CAD software to design and prepare a road, water, and drainage infrastructure plan for the proposed construction of a new subdivision on a parcel of vacant land.
